The Cadillac Sedan Seville has an overflow reservoir. How do you know how much to fill it if it is low?

I put 2 pints of water in the overflow of my Cadillac Sedan Seville SLS with a NorthStar Engine.


I still only could see a half inch of water remaining at the bottom of it using a 5 inch long stick.|||Overflow reservoirs have markings on them, for Cold and Hot, meaning level should be about there when Cold, or there when Hot. Look on the side of the reservoir.|||I appreciate your answer. The manual says to keep the coolant at or below the neck of the reservoir by 2 and a half inches. So in fact there are no markings in the black overflow reservoir. I have to use an ice cream stick to dip down into it and pour the amount I need. Funny method but it works.

|||you should have a cold and hot mark on the reservoir. fill it to the cold mark when the engine is cold then it will be to the hot mark after the engine gets hot.
