How do you turn off the ac in a cadillac escalade 2008?

How do I program my name into the DIC on my 2003 Cadillac Deville?

I just bought an '03 Deville. When I get into the car it says "Hi Dave;" Unfortunately my name is not Dave. (Apparently, the last owner's name was Dave).

The owner's manual says to go to a dealership to program the name. I didn't buy the car from a Cadillac dealer, I got it from a used car dealership. I would really like to avoid going to a Cadillac dealer to program my name in (I'm sure it would be super expensive). Does anybody know how I can program the name myself?|||I think it is too complicated to try and do it yourself. Just go to a Cadillac dealership and have them do it for you. A reputable dealership should not charge you anything to do it... but if they do, it would be around $50

Next time you get a oil change, go to the Cadillac dealership to get it done, and then while you are there get them to change your name too.

Good Luck and enjoy your new car.|||I just bought an 01 Oldsmobile Aurora with same issue. The DIC displays the former owner's name as [FORMER OWNER]'s Aurora. Didn't care about that feature but want the former owner's name gone. Couldn't find "go to the dealer" in the book. At least glad no one absolutely hacked the DIC to do it.

How times have changed. The 1959 Cadillac was really popular with its fins and everything...|||According to my Chilton's manual:

"1954 thru 1957

Each car has a serial number and an engine unit number. The car serial number is located on a plate attached to the left front door pillar post.

ENGINE IDENTIFICATION IS STAMPED ON A MACHINED PAD AT THE FRONT, TOP EDGE OF THE RIGHTHAND BLOCK" The engine number has nine digits; the first two indicate the model year; the third and fourth, the series and the succeeding numbers, the individual car serial number. As an example: Engine unit number 546201140 would be a 1954, model 62, with a production numerical sequence of 01140......

1958

Identification is the same as above except, that a letter follows the first two digits of the engine unit number. This letter indicates the body style. All 1958 models were equipped with the same 4.000" x 3.625" (365 cu.in.) engine.

"BEGINNING 1959

Identification same as above, however the engine size has been changed to 4.000" x 3.875" (390 cu. in.)"|||It should be cast or stamped into the front of the engine block just below the cylinder head.

How to program a key fob for 1999 Cadillac Seville STS?

Found an extra GM keyfob I wanted to program for my car. I googled and had no luck with a couple of the procedures so I was wondering if anyone knew how to do it for the 99 Cadillac Seville?

I tried the put key in ignition with holding the unlock button and cycle on and off a few times then holding down the buttons on the fob but that didn't work.. so other methods is what I need. Thanks!|||That needs to be done with the GM dealers Tech2 Scan tool.

Unfortunately there is no "Do it yourself" programming methods.

It should only take them 5 minutes or so.

Also, Verify that the 8 digit part number on the back of the fob matches yours, if not it will not work.|||You need a scan tool like GM's Tech 2 (dealer scanner) or I think a Mastertech will do it too (Some aftermarket facilities use these).

Is adding sythentic oil to my 99 cadillac deville better in any way?

I have a 99 Cadillac De Ville its running smooth i was just wondering if putting synthetic oil will boost up the engine so it can run smoother. It has 110,661 miles and I live in a city thats always 100 degrees or higher.Ive also heard it saves gas,is this true.??|||Synthetic Oil is usually more benefitial to newer cars that you start them out with. Since your car is used to the regular crude, it really wouldnt have any noticeable difference in performance.|||Synthetic oil is far superior to mineral oil, it has better lubricating and flow characteristics at high and low temperatures, doesn't break down as fast as mineral counterpart. It also resists moisture far better. It doesn't matter if your motor is old or new, synthetic oil will pay itself and you will notice the overall difference.

My 2000 cadillac Seville Northstar motor is overheating, I changed the thermastat with no luck what do I do?

my 2000 cadillac Seville Northstar motor is overheating, I changed the thermastat with no luck what do I do? I need my vehicle asap for work. It has like 130,000 miles ran great until it began overheating, now with new thermastat and fresh coolant it just runs too hot. Can anyone tell me what to do without going to a shop and paying an arm and leg?|||its the intake gaskets that were a problem in those years, you need to get the engine in to the shop and have them find out, because at this point, you still have one. But keep overheating and it will blow the headgasket. get it to the shop, and have them check it out. I checked to see if there were any safety recalls there are none, I did find one reference to an overheating problem but it was specifically related to the filler neck of the radiator being rough inside and causing overheating by coolant loss. If this is a problem you sand the filler neck smooth and replace radiator cap.|||In today's world we think we can Do everything ourselves, but what I find is that guessing out possible causes until we fix the problem often costs more than actually have a certified mechanic telling you whats wrong with it. I suggest taking it somewhere that you know it reasonable in pricing that could tell you why its overheating. Good luck|||if you dont hear the fans coming on, that is part of the issue. the thermostat only controls when the coolant can flow through the radiator. over heating after that point is due to a lack of air flow after that point.|||Head gaskets are common on those, the head bolts fail. Cutting my cadillac converter off will it hurt my gas mileage?

If i cut my cadillac converter off will this kill my gas mileage any at all? any info on this would be great thanks.

it'll be taken from a ford escort, not that it should matter i guess but theres the info, if you need anymore info feel free to ask please and thank you =)|||OK if you live in an area were there is an ispection...you just messed up unless you car already has a bad cat...and in that case u need to replaces it any way.... now many people will tell you that you can take a cat off with little to no problems...well ....i hate to say it....unless the vehicles dosnt have a compter and more importantly an o2 sensor..then yes you can remove it safely with l ittle to no worrys and you might get 3 % or more better gas milage...no cat = better exahust flow...

BUT BE WARNED...if your car has O2 sensors and you go removing the cat you now have changed the exahust back presure along with the readings the O2 sensor may get thus confusing the car and more than likely causing the car to run bad......the general rule of thumb i always say....if you know what your doing and you can do the work your self..experimenting is ok....but if you cant do the work your self and you depend on this vehicle .....for daily driving...ask your self this...do wish to risk haveing a vehicle go from dependable...to.....OH DEAR GOD im stuck on the side of the highway in 5 o clock rush hour traffic.........simply said.....for most people that do not do there own work on cars and that have minaml knowledge on cars etc....i highly recomend.... repairing a car as close to orginal as possible...the reason being that .....the less you alter the orginal form the easier and generaly the cheaper it will be for you to repair in the future. You could try removing the Cat on you car...but to be completly honest...if you own a car that is 92 or newer...i say..nay do not remove the cat.......unless you have no other option because it has failed and causing the car to quit running in this case...you wont loose any thing...to try removing it...and if your car runs poorly put a new cat in after the old one has been removed isnt too expensive plus you more than likly can use a universal one..ok ok i geuss i got a little side tracked if you need any more help let me know! k|||Before you cut it off ,look and see if it has a plug in the bottom of it that you can knock out.If it does and you knock it out , then go and start your vehicle up so it will blow the stuff it of it .All you need to do now is to weld the hole back up .If no plug then just cut it and put a piece of pipe in the place of it.You might get better gas mileage. Where i live they don't check for converters. maybe you have it that way.|||The year of the vehicle does matter and if their is a post catalytic converter oxygen sensor on the vehicle. It is illegal in the United States to remove a catalytic converter and police will cite you for it if they inspect. If your vehicle has a post converter oxygen sensor then your fuel mileage will be significantly affected.|||You need it for inspection. You cannot get your car legally inspected. Also, if its newer than 1995, it would be even worse due to sensors. It may trip your check engine light and make it uninspectable. If its pre-1995, you can "gut" it, so its empty, but still looks like its there. It wont hurt mileage at all. May make it a tiny bit louder.|||Nope.

Your converter is there to neutralize the unburnt toxic gas.

Your car only uses about 40% of the gas you put in it. So you got a lot of neutralizing to do.

Best to put in a cheap hydrogen kit this will greatly reduce your emissions as it allows you better burn the gas (almost 100%).

You also save money as you end up needing to use less gas.

Why are you all assuming the 1964 Cadillac Coupe Deville is slow?

It's top speed was 121/122 and its 340 horsepower 429 V8 could accelerate it from 0-60 in 8 seconds. At that time it was incredible. The slow stereotype for the Cadillac came later in the post 500 caddies.|||In the year 1964 the 1964 Cadillac was classified as muscle. It had few competitors for few cars of that year could match its 121/122 speed limit. Albeit slow, the car could lunge forward like a wild tiger as it touched a speed that was almost miraculous a generation ago. In that era only the Corvette and cars with the most powerful engine options could keep pace.|||I raced against the Coupe Devilles, this is not idle speculation. From a dead stop, from a running 60, you name it. My Dad's 68 Dodge Dart could beat one, and it only had a 225 six in it. I didn't need a police interceptor engine to do it. I raced them in what I was driving at the time. Even my 72 Corolla could take one, and it only had about 96 horse power the way I had built the engine.

I dont have a high paying job. Would my payments be near $200 each month or more?|||If you purchased used and put down a significant down payment, you might get your payments down to around $200. But when I say used, I mean under $25000 (so at least two to three years old) with at least $10,000 up front. Bear in mind that many Toyota Corollas don't often go for $200/month without $4000 down AND great credit. In fact, even a new Honda Civic EX coupe (for $19,000) will run you about $530/month with only $3000 up front.

|||The yellow wire is for the constant power for the head unit. It powers the memory. The orange wire is for a power antenna. It isn't needed. How much is my 1999 Cadillac DeVille worth?

1999 Cadillac DeVille d'Elegance with practically everything and in working condition. It is also aesthetically in pretty good shape, no rust, etc. It has 113k on it. It overheats after about 15-20 minutes of actual driving. I've changed the thermostat and flushed the system to no avail. What is the difference between the GMC Yukon/Cadillac Escalade/Chevy Tahoe?

I am interested in those 3 and I know that GMC and Cadillac are a step-up from Chevy, but what are the real differences? They seem so similar... Is it worth it to pay the extra for the GMC or Cadillac? Thanks|||If luxury technology/features is your priority then it's definitely worth it to step up to a GMC Denali or Cadillac Escalade.

The basic powertrain is the same across the three, but it's the interior materials/quality that changes with each. Also, GM's Magnetic-Ride-Control technology is exclusive to the Cadillac Escalade.

And I guess if it's important to you, there's the prestige issue, Chevrolet is marketed towards middle-class families that want to do the cross country trip with the boat or trailer/construction workers, GMC Yukon Denali is marketed towards the upper middle-class family that mostly wants to stay close to home with the occasional long trip/professionals, Cadillac Escalade is for the upscale upper middle-class family that wants to haul the family around town, on trips, in style and total luxury/executive professionals.

I personally probably wouldn't spend the extra money for a GMC Denali or Cadillac Escalade. I use my GM trucks for hauling people and gear for snow/camping trips, that sort of thing and the Chevy Tahoe/Suburban has enough tech/luxury for me. I'd rather have a Chevy Suburban for hauling and a Cadillac CTS-V for luxury.|||They are all three the same basic vehicle. BASIC vehicle. The differences are always noticable. Just as a small example all the amenities, (such as carpeting, cigarette lighters, courtesy lights, radio, electric seats), are of a hight quality in the Cadillac. Shocks are a better quality. But the basic frame %26amp; 'shell' of the vehicles are the same. Is it worth the $$ difference. It all depends on the person purchasing the vehicle. Some people buy a vehicle for transportation and look for economy. They buy the Chevy. Some people purcahse a vehicle for transportation, emotion, luxury. They buy the Caddy. All I can tell you is: Once you own a Caddy, you'll never want anything else.|||There are one or two options that may be different and there are some trim options that vary. If you want 18 kinds of leather and real wood, get the caddy. If you want a car that will hold its value... don't get any of them.

They're all the same vehicle made by the same company on the same assembly line. One more reason GM is floundering.|||General motors make them all it's the same vehicle different badge different price that's all|||there really isn't much of a difference except the make and price. They all have the same problems, set-ups, etc....

Why does the alarm go off every few minutes when you lock the doors on a 1999 cadillac escalade?

I cannot lock the doors on my 1999 Cadillac Escalade because the alarm will go off for minutes at a time then stop for a few minutes then go off again and so on until I unlock the doors. Any idea what would cause this?|||GM didn't install factory alarms in 99 so you need to determine if it's an alarm or just keyless entry with a panic mode. If it's just keyless then a common problem could be your battery output is too low, the car battery. I know it sounds impossible but believe me, it has caused the horn to go off in the middle of the night or at random times with many of my customers. If it's an aftermarket system, you should be able to disable it by locating your valet switch, it should be under the dash, close to the column and it will be either a button or a toggle switch, turn the key one time to the on position then back then push the button or flip the toggle in the opposite direction. See if that works, if so then you'll now its the alarm and not the charging system. Good luck|||It sounds like a short in the wiring. It may not be the original alarm. Call the dealership. If it a defect they will help. If it is a custom or after market system you will have to pay for repairs.

Why do they want my Cadillac Eldorado?

I own a 1996 Cadillac Eldorado. I just received a letter from a local Cadillac dealer saying they want to buy my car.

Here are some of the things that were stated in the letter.....

It's a special year-end buy-back event..

Your status as a valued customer qualifies you for the private vehicle buy-back.

We are in desperate need to acquire several pre-owned Cadillac Eldorados by Monday, March 5th, 2007 in order to fulfill special requests.

We would like to buy it back at above market prices.

I love my Eldorado and have no intention of selling it, but why would a dealer be asking to buy my car? Is there something special about the 1996 model in particular? And why do they want them by March 5th?|||i used to sell cars and we did this all the time. a yes they do want good quality pre owned cars, but mostly it is a way to sell you a new car. if you decide to do it ask if they will actually write you a check for the car whether you buy a new one or not. chances are tey wont, they are offering you that money as a trade in which is also just a ploy but one people seem to love. no one would pay more for you car than it is worth. they are jus taking the extra money they are giving you out of the profit on the new car. it is called robbing peter to pay paul. in reality they are discounting the new car and just showing you that you are getting more for your old car. most people would rather be shown that they are getting more for the old car than paying less for the new one. it is all psychological advertising stuff. i do believe it is a useful tool to help bring people into the dealership and it is not really deception. unless they do not explain that it is based upon you trading it in for a new caddilac.|||it's a gimmick keep your car|||It's your car, and you don't have to sell it if you don't want to. The 96 Eldorado was a success story and older folks like that car.|||They don't "want" your car, they want to sell you a new car. The letter is a marketing ploy used by many dealers.

GM is in trouble and they need to sell new cars.

If you like the car, keep it.

There is nothing "special" about your 96 ED other than the fact you love it.|||What city you're living in. In L.A. sometimes movie studios need to buy certain vehicles to make a film. Otherwise its just a gimmick to sell a car.

I am younger than you an i think that those trucks are cool!

Get what you want and not what other people want!

If someome asks you why did you get a cadillac?

You should just answer because i like it? In a questioning way. That will make them realize that its you life and nit theirs. And they would just nit ask you again.|||Because when you are comparing a GM Caddy to a BMW it's like comparing rotten apples to oranges.

The Junk GM rolls out of their plants can not in anyway compare to the quality that comes from BMW.

People in their 30s know that BMW are quality cars, and old people drive Caddy's because back in their day a Caddy was a decent car, but look at GM's history that past 2 decades.|||Mainly because BMW has a more broad line of vehicles that approach every age bracket. Cadillac is really nice (CTS-V), but it doesn't scream "I'm in my 20's". Plus, BMW has more affordable, lower end models that sell quick. The CTS is very expensive right off the bat and the lower end models or old affordable ones are junk and lose too much value. But then if you want the newer model CTS-V coupes, you'll be paying $50k+|||I think its because when a rich kid or kid with rich parents go and buy a car for their kid the first thing that comes to mind is the BMW and Mercedes kinds of brands, Hey if its a nice car and comfy then id drive it.|||Don't listen to Daniel. What is gold plated Cadillac health insurance?

I've heard John McCain talk about his proposed $5,000 tax credit not covering those with the "gold plated Cadillac health insurance." He mentioned it most recently during the third presidential debate. What exactly is this? My employer offers three types of insurance (the highest costing one allows me to pay less out of pocket and lowers my deductible and vice-versa). Is this the "gold plated" one, or what exactly is McCain talking about?|||A gold plated policy would have a higher premium, low deductible, low co-pays, little or no co-insurance, with few or no limitations on services such as mental health care.

However, in reference the rest of his plans, he is still for the business and top income earners to continue on with all the tax cuts, loopholes and protection.~~|||I can only assume he was talking about insurance that would cover frivolous or unnecessary procedures. What troubles me is what he lumped in as examples. Here's the quote:

"Now, 95 percent of the people in America will receive more money under my plan because they will receive not only their present benefits, which may be taxed, which will be taxed, but then you add $5,000 onto it, except for those people who have the gold-plated Cadillac insurance policies that have to do with cosmetic surgery and TRANSPLANTS [emphasis mine] and all of those kinds of things."

A kidney transplant gave my wife her life back last year. To equate breast augmentation and rhinoplasty with organ donation and transplants is troubling to say the least.|||Perhaps he is talking about the kind of insurance everyone had in the past, where the company you worked for offered free insurance with the job and you could go to any doctor or hospital you wanted and have it all covered with no deductibles, no phone calls for approval, or other payments. But that was prior to Reagan's election and the privatization of health care.|||Redlante! I thought I was the only one that caught that! Your are correct! WHAT THE HELL DID HE MEAN BY "Transplants". Why hasn't the media picked up on this?

McSame's plan is ridiculous. If I had to get my own insurance, which currently costs, including my company's contribution, $7500. That would leave me $2500 short. How is this better? How can I tell if my flywheel on my 1997 Cadillac deville has broke?

I have a 1997 Cadillac deville and every time I try to start the car when I turn the key it just makes a funny grinding noise and wont fire up. Someone told me it might be my flywheel but I don't know for sure. so how can I tell if it is that?|||pull the starter off and look at the pinion gear, that is the gear that is part of the starter. if that is worn or chewed up, that could be part of the problem. then take a look into the area where the starter came off of the block. you should see about a 6 inch section of the ring gear. look at the teeth on the gear and judge the condition. use a flash light to see the gear better. it might be useful if you were able to turn the engine over with a large wrench on the crank shaft bolt. this would allow you so see more teeth on that gear.|||Both of the answers are good except that since it's a '97 I assume it's a northstar engine. The starter on a northstar is located underneath the intake manifold. It's not going to be a quick and easy job to remove the starter.|||listen to here is the grinding noise has a pattern.like every half second.

Why does my 88 Cadillac not start after it has ran for a while.?

I have a 1988 Cadillac sedan deville. It runs fine but if I drive around for a while and and then stop somewhere and leave it off and comeback to start it again it wont start. It only does it after it has ran for awhile. It will hesitate to turn over or not even try to turnover until it cools down. But if I haven't driven it for awhile it starts up just fine. Please help.|||starter selenoid due to heat soak|||Uh maybe because the car is 19 years old. It's tired. Put it to rest already.|||Try changing the fuel filter add some octane boost to the tank for a few fill ups , and see if that helps, also check all fluids and top them off, hope this helps.|||Sounds like the starter is on its way out. If the starter is cranking slowly, I would replace the starter.|||Check all the wire connections first. If the batterey wire is poor or corroded (Or the solenoid on the starter is bad) when they heat up the resistance goes up and they will not operate.

When it gets hot (if you can) put a jumper cable on the negative terminal to ground and try it again. if that doesn't work try it on the positive terminal to the connection on the starter.(be careful not to touch the jumper cable end to any metal piece on the car except the terminal on the starter). (you can even put electrical tape around most of the metal end of the jumper cable) that would eliminate both cables if it starts when you bypass them with a known good cable. Then if neither of those ideas work - go buy a rebuilt starter and put it on.|||From your post, I'm assuming that it doesn't even want to roll over, especially when warmed up.

Two common causes, one easy, the other a little more of an issue.

First off, when it doesn't want to roll over, do the dash lights stay on? And even more important, does the electric clock reset ? If so, its probably a battery connection issue. Most times, on a GM, its the cable ends themselves. Disconnect the battery,(negative cable first-ALWAYS!) and check the ends for corrosion. Remove the battery cable end bolt and really look in the cable end, clean it with a baking soda and water solution, peeling back the plastic covering. Also, some GM's have a stacked positive cable, and if yours has it, pull the lead plug between the cables and clean them real good, usually its easiest to replace that lead plug than try to clean it-most auto parts stores stock them.

The 2nd most common thing would be the starter itself, and only a shop with the proper diagnostic equipment can tell you if that's the case. If all else fails, remove the starter, and have an auto parts store test it-multiple times! Sometimes you have to get them hot for them to fail. we try to get 10 good tests out of one before we make a call as to whether to replace it or not.

If its not one of those two most common things, then the starting system will need voltage-drop testing to determine the cause of your problem.

#1 cause is cable ends.|||Change the IGNITION COIL. This maybe called a %26gt;%26gt; Module or amplifier%26gt;%26gt; this is where the (spark plug wires connect to from the top of the motor before going down to the side of the engine to the spark plugs.%26lt;%26lt;)

When the car engine is %26gt;%26gt;cold the Coil is cold%26lt;%26lt; but after the engine reaches %26gt;%26gt;operating temp%26lt;%26lt; then the coil gets hot and will not%26gt;%26gt; produce the spark needed%26lt;%26lt; under the heated conditions.

as long as you%26gt;%26gt; don't turn it off when its hot%26lt;%26lt; the system will operate, but if you turn it off then the%26gt;%26gt; coil has to cool down %26lt;%26lt;a bit before it will perform well enough to generate%26gt;%26gt; spark energy to the spark plugs and start the car engine%26lt;%26lt;.

ALSO I bet you noticed that its been using gas more too?...|||well I would suggest a tune up. another thing is the starter not turning the engine over? if so it may be a problem with your starter you may need a new one. also try checking the battery cables are they loose or anything really they should be taken off and probably cleaned with a wire brush and the batter posts should probably be cleaned with it as well. now if the engine is turning over and its just not starting you should probably check the distributor cap its where all the spark plug wires meet up. now you might also want to check and make sure that everything is on their right but if you get a tune up they should do this when they replace your spark plugs and spark plug wires. now the center plug on the distributor cap it runs to the thing that causes the spark plugs to fire I forget what its called but this may be bad. its also possible that when you shut the engine off the spark plugs are becoming flooded if so then your carburetor might be causing a problem by giving it more gas than it should be or it might keep giving it gas when its not suppose to be. so you might want to have that checked but I would suggest having a mechanic look at it or something because you probably won't have much of an idea of what to do with it. also if you would really like to fix it yourself AutoZone or an automotive shop carries books search for one that tells about your particular car and you might be able to figure it all out. anyway what I was talking about with the carburetor is the line still has gas with pressure in it and when you shut it off it might be flooding the engine with gas and then stopping when the pressure in the line is gone. anyway this is a problem with your carburetor and you may need a new one fixing the old one you probably cannot manage because you will probably screw it up worse than it already is no offence but I would suggest taking it to a mechanic.

Do you have to use premium gas in a Cadillac with a North-star engine?

I really want to buy a used Cadillac 1993-2000 the only problem is the Northstar enginge. It says that they have to take premium gas but that is expensive. Do I have to use premium gas or is that just what northstar says I have to do.

Please be thourough in you answer. Dont say "it says you have to take premium but you really don't" I need facts to back it up. Thank you for all your help.|||You have to use premium gas in the Northstar engine because lower octane fuel WILL damage it. No tricks. No gyps. High compression engines require premium gas because there's no other way to prevent detonation, preignition and mechanical failure without water injection and other very sophisticated and expensive systems. You might be looking at two more dimes and thinging it's silly, but that extra 20 cents means you won't need the engine replaced for playing cheap with an expensive machine.

The 1963 Jetfire Olds 3.5 liter turbo (215 HP- 215 cu.in) with 10.5:1 compression required premium, which was 100+ octane in those days, plus a mixture of water and alcohol for induction to the engine. People didn't always take it seriously and a lot of those engines blew up, huffing the turbo through the hood of the car. GM only admitted to "engine fires" in reference to their defect. With the Northstar, Cadillac knows better than to even ask you to *think* about maintaining a supply of extra additive to preserve the engine.|||It says its required for a reason. High compression engines require a high octane fuel to avoid knocking and damaging the engine. Eventually its going to wreck your engine and its going to cost a lot more than you could dream of saving by being cheap and not using the correct gas. If you cant afford $0.20/gal which amounts to less than $3/tank of gas then you cant afford the car.

Car companies don't get anything out of telling you to use a higher grade of gas. The gas companies do.|||Well some facts are that Cadillac is american made car, they want you to use expensive fuel and parts, its common sense. I own a cadillac and when the fuel is expensive i always use regular but from good gas stations not old ones, and when the gas is low then i pump premium for a while, but either way regular or premium the cadillac still hovers down the road great!

Skill has an important factor in all things automotive related.|||if it is a drag race and the caddy has a decently built engine and better than stock tires and rear end.. then yes, however, no matter what you do to ANY 1964 model caddy, it will NEVER beat a stock new lamborghini if there is even 1 turn in the race track. its simply impossible. you may be partil to caddys, but im sorry, the fact is, in all reality... no.|||no the 64 caddy is a 5000 pound boat.|||are you kidding!|||UUUHHHMMMM, NO|||Tortoise and the Hare.

What are some sound system options for a cadillac sts and how much might it cost?

I have a 2002 Cadillac Sts, and i'm looking to put a system, i already have a stock 12 inch sub in the back that's shot, and I'm looking to replace it and expand off of that, new speakers, amp, etc. But i also have an older head unit (touch screen, navigation), but it seems to do the job, I'm thinking of possibly replacing that, but I'm not too sure yet. Anyone got any ideas?|||Well, now you know what to do to burn out a stock sub. Replace it and, well, you know what to not do again.

There, waiting inside the dash, is a very big headache, but I won't spoil the surprize for you when you try to do the replacement. Oh, you plan to have it done at a shop. Good. They will earn all those $100/per hour hours.|||It really depends on what kind of music you listen to honestly and what features you want for your music. Rock you would use smaller woofers like 8 or 10 inch subs and 3 way speakers speakers depending on what size your car uses. Typically cover more audio range.

Hip hop is larger woofers 12's 15's 18's and component systems which are seperate tweeters and 6 inch woofers made to give you decent highs but more bass. Typically isolating frequencies that are used in samples. Not covering entire audio spectrum. Basically lots of bass.

Why is the service stability system message on and what does it mean 2002 Cadillac Escalade?

Why is the service stability system message on and what does it mean 2002 Cadillac Escalade?|||The stability system helps to keep the car from skidding and losing control.

The message means that the computer in your car has detected something that doesn't seem right. This is usually a sensor that came unplugged or broke.

The dealer can fix this. They will first charge $100 to run a computer diagnostic. It takes about 1 minute and the price is a rip off! Your auto parts store may run a diagnostic for free if you buy the replacement parts from them.|||Im no scalade owner, but I would say its asking for service. Oil change? Filter? Can you repair cracked heads on a 1998 Cadillac Deville, or do you absolutely have to replace them?

I have a 1998 Cadillac Deville that they tell me the heads are cracked. I want to know if those same heads can be repaired somehow or do I have to replace them with new/used heads. I cannot afford to replace the heads yet.|||Has the motor been disassembled yet, or did they tell you that the heads were cracked just looking at the vehicle? You are not clear on that point. If they have the heads off and have found cracks in them, you need to replace them. If the mechanic has not taken the heads off yet, and is telling you they are cracked, be very careful. There is no way to inspect a head for cracks without removing it. It could be the head gasket, and not the head, needs replacement.|||Yep, better to replace..... I'd get more opinions.. he could be full of it. Best to find good heads off a junker then buy new.|||replace, crack is not good at all, if water get into it is not pretty.|||You must replace them...

How to install 3rd row seat on 1999 cadillac escalade?

I plan to install a 3rd row seat (Tahoe/Yukon) on my 1999 cadillac escalade. But, there are not pre-set position for it. I have to remove floor carpet and install something with base of the truck. Before I do this, I want to ask if anybody has experience on it. Thanks a lot!|||I've done swaps in older vehicles and would make a pattern or template from the removed vehicle to transfer to the other vehicle. An over size piece of cardboard or rosin paper is good for this. Before drilling holes, look up on the undercarriage of the floor to see what you might be hitting. Reinforcement plates can be made from old bumper arms or flat iron stock. If you do the transfer, be sure to install the seat belts from the original vehicle.

I have a hunter green Cadillac DeVille that has water spots on it. I've washed it with several products, but nothing will get the spots off. Is there a product that I can use (wax, etc.) that will eliminate the spots?|||DuPont Polishing compound will. Don't rub too hard and don;t get rubbing compound by mistake.|||Water spots, if left unattended over time, cause them to eat into the paint...there are very fine buffing/polishing compounds you can use that will remove these, or most of them. They are available at most auto parts stores, or your favorite department store in the auto section...

Always rub lightly, and take your time, it can be a tiring job.

Once you get it the best you can, a good paste wax applied every month will generally prevent it from happening again.|||Try a clay bar treatment. Can a Cadillac converter on a 93 Toyota go bad after sitting around for a few years?

So yeah, I got a 93 Toyota pick-up (because it was the year before the Tacoma if I'm not mistaken) the stickers went out in '08 from the previous owner. I've already did the tune up on it; (oil/spark plugs/etc.) It must have passed smog then; so would the Cadillac converter go bad after sitting for two years?|||Usually the converter goes bad with use such as over heating causing the biscuit to damage, engine not running clean causing the converter to clog, etc.

Your mechanic should be able to tell you what is wrong with the system. If you are in need of new quality exhaust parts at an affordable price let me know.|||I don't know but if you successfully transform your old Toyota into a Cadillac let me know right away so I can get in on the patent rights!

What years are interchangeable for a 93 Cadillac Eldorado?

I have a 1993 Cadillac Eldorado Sport Coupe and need to know if the parts off of the 1992 Eldorado will work? And what other years are interchangeable for the Eldorado. I had a website once before, but I lost it. Any help is appreciated.|||I think you lucked out,I'm pretty sure the 1992 will interchange, there may be other years as well. G.M. is good for that, all the car company's are really. Here's something you can do, if there are any junk yards close to where you live, call them and ask, usually they don't want to tell you, they can sell you the particular part ,so they keep that information to themselves.you can do this too,go to one of those franchise auto part stores, where the oil ,air gas filters are there's usually a manual, find your car, year, engine size, very important, check the years before and after,if the data matches, for engine size ect.,you'll find out what other years will interchange.OH! Can one use any type of lock tumbler in a Cadillac, or must it be a Cadillac of the same year and model?

I want to change the locks on my car. And are these tumblers only sold by cadillac dealers?|||Door lock tumblers generally are the same for a few years. You can buy them at a auto parts store with a key already coded to them, but then you'll have a different key for the doors and for the ignition. If you're trying to have the same key for both, you have to buy the cylinder at the dealer and have it coded to match (doing it yourself is a pain in the a$$)|||Take the locks out and have a locksmith recode them to a different key...much cheaper than buying a whole new set.

|||Another to add to the list: Reba lost 8 members of her road band and 2 plane crewman in a plane crash.

"While on tour for her 1990 album, McEntire lost eight members of her road band and two plane crewman (Chris Austin, Kirk Cappello, Joey Cigainero, Paula Kaye Evans, Terry Jackson, Michael Thomas, Tony Saputo) when their charter jet plane crashed near San Diego, California on March 16, 1991. The accident occurred after McEntire's private performance for IBM executives the night before.[21] The first plane was a Hawker Siddeley charter jet had believed to have taken off around 1:45 AM from the Brown Field Municipal Airport, located near the border of Mexico. After rising about 3,572 feet in the air, the Hawker aircraft crashed on the side of Otay Mountain, located ten miles east of the airport, while the second plane (carrying her other band members) did not crash. The accident was believed to have occurred due to poor visibility near Otay Mountain, which was not considered "prohibitive" for flying. The news was reported nearly immediately to McEntire and her husband, who were sleeping at a nearby hotel. A spokeswoman for McEntire at the time stated in the Los Angeles Times that "She was very close to all of them. Some of them had been with her for years. Reba is totally devastated by this. It's like losing part of your family. Right now she just wants to get back to Nashville."[22]

McEntire dedicated her sixteenth album, For My Broken Heart, to her deceased road band. Released in October 1991, it contained songs of sorrow and lost love about "measures of all suffering," according to Alanna Nash of Entertainment Weekly. Nash reported that McEntire "still hits her stride with the more traditional songs of emotional turmoil, above all combining a spectacular vocal performance with a terrific song on Buying Her Roses, a wife's head- spinning discovery of her husband's other woman."[23] Within nine months, For My Broken Heart sold two million copies and McEntire was soon responsible for the highest album sales by any recording artist on the MCA Nashville record label.[8] The release peaked at #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, while also reaching #13 on the Billboard 200,[24] selling an eventual total of four million copies in the United States, thus earning a quadruple-platium certification. Its title track became McEntire's sixteenth number one, followed by "Is There Life Out There," which also reached #1 on the Billboard country music chart.[2] The third single, "The Greatest Man I Never Knew" peaked in the Top 5 and her cover of Vicki Lawrence's "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" reached #12."|||In answer to the first response, John Denver did die in a plane crash, but not sure how much it is classified as a tragedy. Nothing against John Denver, I like his music, BUT I want to clarify this. He was flying his OWN Experimental plane. As oppose to guys who either aren't really at fault for their deaths, or a case like Hank who it was just such a sad state. John Denver was out there doing something he wanted to be doing so it's a different feeling.

Skynard with being Southern Rock and Country's connection is somewhat put in with Country(and more Country then today's POP that is called Country), and I think we all know of all those members of their original band including Ronnie being killed in that plane crash.

Another tragedy is one by omission and that's Waylon Jennings who was supposed to be on the plane that killed Big Bopper, Richie Valins, and Buddy Holly. As I understand the story the one commented about how he hoped that Waylon's bus broke down and he froze to death(or something like that) so Waylon responded well I hope your plane crashes. also Luther Perkins died in a house fire thought to be caused by his own cigarette.|||Gram Parsons died September 19, 1973 in Joshua Tree, California at the age of 26 from a lethal combination, purportedly of morphine and alcohol.

To fulfill Gram Parsons' "funeral" wishes, Phil Kaufman and a friend stole his body from the airport and in a borrowed hearse drove it to Joshua Tree where they attempted to cremate it by pouring five gallons of gasoline into the open coffin and throwing a lit match inside. What resulted was an enormous fireball. Police chased them, but according to one account they "were encumbered by sobriety," and got away. The two were arrested several days later. Since there was no law against stealing a dead body, they were only fined $750 (or $700) for stealing the coffin and were not prosecuted for leaving 35 lbs of his charred remains in the desert.

The site of the cremation was marked by a small concrete slab and is presided over by a large rock flake known to rock climbers as 'The Gram Parsons memorial hand traverse'.[8] The slab has since been removed by the U.S. National Park Service and was relocated to the Joshua Tree Inn which was where he was staying at the time of his death. At the site of the original memorial now are simple rock structures and writings on the rock which the park service sand blasts to remove from time to time.|||Well... In what part of the engine is the oil pressure switch located on a 1994 Cadillac DeVille?

My grandfather has a 1994 Cadillac DeVille. We're having trouble locating the oil pressure switch. He's had it checked numerous times at the Cadillac dealership. After driving for about 15 minutes, the light will come on and it says "Low oil pressure, please turn the car off". He's getting aggravated because the dealership says that nothing is wrong with it. We're going to change it ourselves anyway. Please help!|||Drive it into your dealership, when the light is on, and ask to have the oil pressure checked with a manual gauge. If ok(20 - 50 psi hot) tell them to replace the sender, while it is out. If you cannot locate the sender, I do not believe you will be able to master gauge the eng. to find out if you do indeed have low pressure, or a bad sender. It only takes 1/2 hour to do this, so wait for the car, if they can do it right away, otherwise take it back when they can do it right away.|||Oil pressure switch screws into the side of the engine right above the oil filter. Got to get under car to get it out. Just the other day at idle my oil pressure was at 8psi. I took a look under it and it had oil oozing all around it. It was very loose.

How many seats are in a Cadillac Escalade?

I saw a picture of one of those things and dang, those are HUGE!! And no I'm not thinking of getting one, like I could afford one anyway, because I'm sure it isn't exactly good on fuel. why don't you go to a dealer and test drive them?|||the caddie is abetter car. the ford means fix and repair daily and i mean that is true. i have never had a ford new or otherwise that wasn't a pain in the butt. the caddie goes fast and it wont' stop and its good and reliable. ihad one dts it was 06 fabulous. reason i got rid of it cause bought on lease and hubby was gone. so i got a SI honda civic its a sports car and has the push and it also has the gas thing so its cheaper to drive but i love it. take care.|||The cadi is going to be faster, use more gas, ride better, handle better maybe, be built better and cost you about 20,000 to 25,000 more. It rides much much smoother and quieter.

The Ford Fusion is a regular family sedan that shares the chassis, suspension, and powertrain with the 2003-2008 Mazda 6.

So it feels completely different. The Fusion, like the Mazda 6, feels like a sports sedan. Its handling is much better and it is more fun to drive.|||The Ford Fusion is cheaper and it's built better. the only CTS worth getting is the V-series.|||you are buying the cadillac name, just go with the fusion, Ford has really stepped it up in the past few years in terms of reliability|||Cadillacs have always been status symbols and still are. If you require everyone at the country club to see your new car, get the Caddy.

Although a base CTS is near fully loaded Fusion price territory, the Ford is an excellent value. At present, Ford is releasing a hybrid version of the Fusion good for 41 mpg city. That is definitely worth looking at.

I love Cadillacs, but for the money, I'd buy the Fusion.

For those down on American cars...I wish that people would stop saying that Ford means 'fix or repair daily'...that's the oldest joke in the book and has nothing to do with reality. I've owned and sold Fords and all have been reasonable, economical, reliable cars.

When people start realizing that they have to do maintenance on a car and not use it like an appliance, maybe then the attitude will change.

My apologies for the extraneous rant.

My air conditioning in the front of the vehicle has not been working for over a week. I need to find the power distribution box so I can see if I have a blown fuse. In most vehicles the PDB is located around the battery, but this is not the case with my Cadillac. A Haynes repair book I bought says that the box can be found sometimes either in the trunk or under one of the seats. I can't find it anywhere.|||I like Chiltons better than Haynes. The library will have them. Have a look.

What would cause antifreeze to get into my oil on 88 Cadillac Deville?

I bought a 88 Cadillac Deville on May 25, 2007. Engine size is 4.5 and has 94,784 miles on it. Two days ago it overheated on me. My son looked at it and said the radiator was real low. He filled it with mixed antifreeze. Yesterday it overheated again. My son looked at it and said the radiator was about 1/2 gallon low. He couldn't see that it was leaking anywhere. First thing he decided to do was flush the radiator because it looked real dirty. He couldn't get it to drain. He said there was sand, metal flakes or possibly radiator sealant in the bottom of it. THEN he looked at the oil and it was greenish brown. He said it was antifreeze in the oil. THEN he took off the valve cover and there was white thick stuff gooped up under it. I plan on taking it to a mechanic on Monday. I've got my fingers crossed but I think someone was trying to pull a fast one on me! Can anyone help me diagnose the problem? And does anyone know how Lemon Laws work? I would greatly appreciate any information!|||Blown head gasket or cracked cylinder heads.

You did get it checked by a mechanic BEFORE you bought it didn't you?|||hole in the manifold or cylinder head is cracked somewhere, water in the oil could mean

your motors done!|||A blown head gasket or cracked block, but likely it is a blown head gasket. This can be a major repair depending on the car. The sooner you get it fixed the better. If you bought the car "as is" I doubt there is anything you can do to get the dealer/person to pay for the repair, but some states do have some laws that might help. I'm not an expert so hopefully someone will reply regarding what laws might be helpful, but they will likely need to know what state you bought the car in.|||A blown head gasket is the most likely source of antifreeze in the oil, and the oil should now look sort of creamy in color. Usually, this happens due to a failure of the cooling system and the engine overheats and causes the head gasket to get brittle, crack and leak antifreeze in to the oil. A cracked block can also cause this. Hopefully, it is the head gasket and you can save the engine.|||Your head gasket or intake gasket probably failed those Caddilacs are notorious. The gritty stuff sounds like someone had a problem that you are going to have to fix...Don't know about the lemmon laws, but if you bought it AS-IS my guess it you are stuck with it.If you are going to do something legal better do it quickly......good luck|||most likely a head gasket or a cracked head|||Lemon laws do not apply to 88 Cadillac DeVilles. You've got a blown head gasket for sure, possible cracked head or block. Not to mention whatever was leaking in the first place to cause the initial overheating condition. Don't want to sound like a jerk, but you bought a pile of crap and now you're stuck with it.|||Probably a cracked block. Did you check the oil before you bought it? If it was very clean, like it was just changed, it might indicate that the person you bought it from was trying to conceal the fact that it had a cracked block. Never buy a used car if the oil is "too clean".|||lemon laws don't apply to cars that old. or from a private person. most likely a cracked head gasket.if that engine has aluminum heads it may also have a cracked head. anyway it is probably more expensive to fix than the car is worth.

flushing the oil with diesel and replacing the head is the minimum needed.any good auto shop will give you an estimate fore free. get more than one, possibly 3 or 4.

make sure you know the mechanic because they can be very unscrupulous.|||I'll go out on a limb here and say "head gasket." I know, breaking away from the pack like this is bad. And good luck finding one. Has been discontinued from Cadillac. As far as lemon law goes--nope.
