With what speed should you impact the Cadillac to bring it to a halt?

The parking brake on a 2000kg Cadillac has failed, and it is rolling slowly, at 4mph , toward a group of small children. Seeing the situation, you realize you have just enough time to drive your 2000kg Volkswagen head-on into the Cadillac and save the children. With what speed should you impact the Cadillac to bring it to a halt?

Can you please give me the steps to solve this problem? I'm not asking for the answer. I just need help with the equation to use.

Thanks|||since they weigh the same, at 4mph the VW will have the same momentum as the caddy, and the result will be no motion.

momentum is mV

m₁V₁ = m₂V₂
