Where is the oil leak coming from on my Cadillac?

For the past couple of weeks there have been little oil spots on the driveway where I park my '96 Cadillac Councours. I didn't drive it for a few days and now there is a huge puddle under the car. Anybody have any ideas where it's coming from and how I can fix it? Thanks!|||If it really is a huge puddle, the sources are fairly limited. The oil filter or oil drain plug could be loose, but you would get an oil pressure warning light when you started the engine. The oil pan could be loose or have a hole in it. Maybe the valve cover gaskets are leaking, or the engine rear main seal or timing cover gasket needs replacement. Use engine degreaser and follow instructions on cleaning the engine, then check for the leak. Keep in mind it doesn't take much oil on the driveway to look like a major leak. Keep the oil level topped off and make sure the low oil pressure light does not come on until you find the source of the leak. Purchase a Haynes or Chilton's repair manual for your vehicle, that will give you a good idea of whether or not you want to try to repair it yourself. Good luck.|||Without looking at the vehicle I couldn't tell you where it might be coming from. Is it brown or red?|||Can't see it from here. You may want to have a friend that knows cars look it over for you or take it to a shop.|||probably from the oil filter or the oil pressure sending unit.

if you have the oil changed at a drive through shop they regularly leave the filter loose. fore most filters hand tight and 1/4 more is not enough, unless you are a very strong person.

sending units have a wax seal where the wires come out and over a short time they leak. a new one is cheap insurance.|||you werent to specific

but

maybe the oil pan gasket needs to be replaced

???|||i dont know
