Where can I find an engine for a 1957 cadillac?

I have a 1957 Cadillac here in Ireland and the engine is broken. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could purchase a new engine or is there another engine that could go into the Cadillac?|||The best replacement engine is a "remanufactured" engine rather than a "rebuilt" engine in my opinion. The manufacturers like GM offer newly remanufactured engines and transmissions. In some cases, brand new GM engines are so standard (like small block GM engines) that you can buy them brand new relatively inexpensively in the States. I would install a brand new 350 cubic inch GM small block V8 engine which you should be able to order and have delivered to your local GM dealer.|||Nobody will have a replacement engine that will just bolt in to that year of car, regardless of brand. If you cant get the original one rebuilt, then you will be faced with repowering it, or finding another one that can be rebuilt. A 350 chevy will NOT bolt in without major changes. Personally I would try a cadillac from the 60s-70s. get a 472-500 cubic inch engine and trans from a doner vehicle, you will have to make engine and transmission mounts, as well as modify the driveline. You will also have to upgrade the wiring harness. There are alot of other variables that would need to be addressed, fuel system, exhaust among them. Not a task for the faint of heart, or light of wallet. Look to spend lots of money regardless.|||probably get one that fits it thats new.

sure the engine can't be fixed? what exact is wrong with it.

you can get the piston heads re-bored etc.

unless it's seized up, its possible to bring it back with a lot of TLC, but it probably has to be stripped down and rebuilt.|||i dare say you will find a different engine but what it is is beyond me, you could email the main dealer in the states they would be able to help.

When you say the other engine is broke what do you mean is it beyond repair?

With a little work, any engine will fit. A later model Chevy or Caddie motor could be used if you don't mind it not being stock.

It would be better to rebuild the one you have for the purest. Which could be done provided you haven't thrown a rod through the block or it hasn't cracked in the compression area of the cylinders.|||Try Ebay. Usually spare parts and old cars on there.
